Sarah Lawrence Dean of the College and scholar of art history, Jerrilynn Dodds, and co-authors Maria Menocal and Abigail Balbale, have been awarded the 2010 Albert C. Outler book prize for The Arts of Intimacy: Christians, Jews and Muslims in the Making of Castilian Culture as best publication in "ecumenical church history broadly conceived" by the American Society of Church History (ASCH).

Zoë Keating '93 will be donating a performance to the College on Tuesday, March 8 at 1:30 pm in Reisinger Auditorium on campus.  Zoë is a cellist and composer and she will be performing avant cello as part of the College's Music Tuesday series. Avant cello refers to her technique of using a cello and foot-controlled laptop to record layer upon layer of sound. Zoë's been referred to as a "one-woman orchestra". She has sold an astonishing 35,000 albums on iTunes and has 1.3 million Twitter followers.  She's become a role model for self-releasing artists and she often speaks about the ways that artists need to use business and technology skills to promote themselves.

Internet publishing entrepreneur Arianna Huffington will deliver the Commencement address to the Sarah Lawrence College class of 2011 on Friday, May 20, at 10 a.m. on the College's southern Westchester County campus. "Arianna Huffington is one of the most distinctive and influential voices shaping communications today. We are delighted that she will deliver the commencement address at Sarah Lawrence College, which has always nurtured individual voices and entrepreneurial spirits," said SLC President Karen Lawrence.

Grace Paley: Collected Shorts is a portrait of writer and activist Grace Paley, child of Russian Jewish refugees. Lilly Rivlin's film features intimate family footage and interviews with alumna Alice Walker and others. The National Center for Jewish Film's 14th Annual Film Festival will screen this documentary on March 9 at 7 p.m. at the Wasserman Cinematheque at Brandeis University.

In Schwartz's Spy Garbo, Fascist Franco, Communist Philby, and Hitler's Canaris re-enact and argue their villainies and heroics, competing to star as hero of the ultimate WWII spy movie. The show runs from March 1st through April 10th; its opening is March 6th.
