FSL Donate Now Button

We have reached - one month and counting for The Fund for Sarah Lawrence. Over the next four weeks you will be hearing from us with a little more regularity than during other times of the year. The best way to keep your inbox clear is to donate today!
Some very exciting news to relay, the 2012 Senior Class has surpassed their Senior Gift goal of $2,012 and is very close to their 50 % participation goal. We hope our alumni will follow their lead.

The FSL has successfully completed the first year of our student philanthropy program through which we educated the entire student body about giving back to their School during their time here and then continuing to give back when they graduate and become alumni. The marquee event for the program was the Phil Project, a project that invited students from all years and all concentrations to submit a 1 -3 minute film focused on reasons for giving back to Sarah Lawrence or thanking donors for contributing. The top four winners were awarded prizes at the annual Sarah Lawrence Film Festival. All submissions will be shared with our alumni.

With your support and participation we will be able to meet our $3.4 Million goal.  Every gift counts!  Please don't wait until the last minute, your Alma Mater needs your help NOW!  Our fiscal year closes on May 31. You can mail your contribution to
FSL: 1 Mead Way/Bronxville, NY 10708; call us at 914-395-2533 or

June 16 LA: Screening of "Finding Joe" Film and Discussion
Finding Joe, a movie by Patrick Takaya Solomon, is an exploration of famed Mythologist Joseph Campbell's studies and their continuing impact on our culture. Through interviews with visionaries from a variety of fields interwoven with enactments of classic tales by a sweet and motley group of kids, the film navigates the stages of what Campbell dubbed The Hero's Journey: the challenges, the fears, the dragons, the battles, and the return home as a changed person. Rooted in deeply personal accounts and timeless stories, Finding Joe shows how Campbell's work is relevant and essential in today's world and how it provides a narrative for how to live a fully realized life - or as Campbell would simply state, how to "follow your bliss".

Sarah Lawrence Remembers Amy Swerdlow MA 1973

Sarah Lawrence remembers faculty member Amy Swerdlow MA 1973. Swerdlow, author of Women Strike for Peace: Traditional Motherhood and Radical Politics in the 1960s and former professor and director of the Women's History Program, was a "red diaper baby" who spent her childhood among communist activists in the Coops, three apartment complexes in the Bronx that poor Jewish immigrants working in the garment industry founded in the 1920s and managed cooperatively.

Amy Swerdlow will be remembered at this year's Service of Remembrance at Reunion 2012.

Reunion is the perfect time for alumni to support the school and increase your class's participation rates and gift totals. You can do so by making your own donation to the Fund before May 31, 2012. Currently, 1957 leads class participation and the 50th Reunion Class of 1962 leads with the largest class gift. Zilpha Starnes '05 and Dania Abu-Shaheen '04 are celebrating 6 years of performing together as Starnes&Shah and they would like to invite you to their special band birthday show/party at Arlene's Grocery (95 Stanton Street between Orchard and Ludlow) on Saturday May 19th at 9pm. Zilpha and Dania love seeing fellow SLCers at their shows, so swing by and say hello! The band's sixth year has been an exciting one as they released their third album "Red Brick Tide" and teamed up with director Samantha Stark '05 to make their first music video for the track "Lucinda." Stark's whimsical vision was brought to life with the help of another SLC alumna, the hilarious Liz Clark '05. The show runs from April 27 through May 19. Tickets are $18.
