June 16 LA: Screening of “Finding Joe” Film and Discussion
Finding Joe, a movie by Patrick Takaya Solomon, is an exploration of famed Mythologist Joseph Campbell's studies and their continuing impact on our culture. Through interviews with visionaries from a variety of fields interwoven with enactments of classic tales by a sweet and motley group of kids, the film navigates the stages of what Campbell dubbed The Hero's Journey: the challenges, the fears, the dragons, the battles, and the return home as a changed person. Rooted in deeply personal accounts and timeless stories, Finding Joe shows how Campbell's work is relevant and essential in today's world and how it provides a narrative for how to live a fully realized life - or as Campbell would simply state, how to "follow your bliss".
June 18 NYC: Networking Event for SLC Attorneys
NYC-based attorneys are invited to gather together for "war stories" and cocktails.
June 26 DC: Get Together for Students Interning in DC

Sarah Lawrence Receives Leadership Gifts

Sarah Lawrence College received a $1 million commitment from Trustee and alumna Ellen Flamm '59 and her family to establish The Ellen Schloss Flamm and Family Endowed Fund for Faculty Research and Development. This commitment represents the inaugural gift toward funding a major campaign priority to support curriculum and course development, faculty research, professional enrichment, creative projects and project development for student/ faculty collaboration. Ellen's lifelong commitment to Sarah Lawrence includes roles as a dedicated volunteer, benefactor, member of the Campaign Steering Committee, and member of the Board of Trustees. This gift reflects a special understanding of the Sarah Lawrence faculty–an appreciation no doubt honed as the mother of Michael W. Flamm, Professor of History at Ohio Wesleyan University, and spouse of Richard Peterson, Emeritus Professor of Literature.

The College has also received a commitment of $1 million dollars from alumna Paula Rudnick '72 and her husband Allan, parents of Allison, a 2007 alumna. The Rudnicks' generous gift is designated for unrestricted endowment support, providing the College with the flexibility to support its overall mission and priorities. Paula is a current member of the Board of Trustees and she and Allan serve on the Campaign Steering Committee. The Rudnicks are frequent hosts of Faculty on the Road and alumni events in Los Angeles, and legendary ambassadors for the College in California.

These leadership gifts from members of the Sarah Lawrence Board of Trustees help launch a comprehensive campaign that will shape the future of Sarah Lawrence College.
