Then and Now
Spring 2015

It's bound to happen. Once set in motion, a story unfolds in ways we don't expect and could never foresee. People enter and exit. Seemingly unrelated events impose on the narrative arc. Just like that, a plot line that began way back then becomes a rich, complex tale that continues in the here and now, as the stories in this issue will attest.

Thank You for Reunion 2015.

THANK YOU for a fantastic Reunion! Last weekend, over 600 alumni, guests, faculty, and staff celebrated on campus during our biggest Reunion ever! Campus was abuzz with good cheer as old friends reconnected and new SLC bonds were formed.

In the classrooms on Friday, faculty and alumni had spirited discussions, and under the tent on Saturday, they danced the night away! After all the groovy dance moves, alumni who had worked up an appetite made their way down Bates hill for midnight breakfast before snuggling up in their Slonim, Andrews, and Rothschild dorm rooms to dream of Reunion delights. The Heimbold Visual Arts Center was hopping with special celebrations for the 30th Anniversary of the Art of Teaching Graduate Program, which included honoring founding Director Sara Wilford '72, and the Study Abroad Program in Cuba. The Alumni Art Exhibit drew over 150 guests for its opening reception, and Reisinger was jam-packed for another classic SLC Cabaret. Many thanks to Art Exhibit Curator Conrad Vogel '77 and Cabaret Director Shirley Kaplan for all of their hard work on these beloved Reunion events.

Alumni came from all over the United States. From Oregon and California to Texas, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Maine – we had the country covered! Reunion also drew guests from beyond our borders as alumni from Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and France packed their bags and travelled to Bronxville to join the fun! Class years ranged from 1949 to 2015, and we had stellar attendance for alumni celebrating their 5th, 10th, 30th, 50th, 55th Reunions.

We're getting photos up just as fast as we can! Please click below to view a very special Reunion video by alumnus Brian Emery '07 and view "Flat Sarah" portraits by Andrea Reese '84 as well as a sneak peak of seminar and Saturday night dancing candids!

Robin Cohen Reinach '78 produced an off-Broadway play: A new play about sex, power and intimacy in the 21st century, CONSENT follows Ron Sullivan, living the American dream. A natural athlete and former NFL football player, Ron achieved early success as an award winning architect. But recently he's made some changes. Ron came out as gay, separated from his high school sweetheart, and moved into a Soho loft. Now a chance encounter with Kurt, a sexy Yale law student, seduces him into the murky waters of consent. Neither man, nor the two most important women in Ron's life, will ever be the same. For more information, please see:
