Then and Now
Spring 2015

It's bound to happen. Once set in motion, a story unfolds in ways we don't expect and could never foresee. People enter and exit. Seemingly unrelated events impose on the narrative arc. Just like that, a plot line that began way back then becomes a rich, complex tale that continues in the here and now, as the stories in this issue will attest.

GIVE TO SLC

Fund for Sarah Lawrence - Donate today!

The annual giving from our generous Fund for Sarah Lawrence supporters enables the College to prepare young leaders for today's global environment. Our donors make it possible for our students to develop creative and analytical skills on campus and in study abroad; and for our faculty members to mentor their development, guiding their academic explorations.

A Sarah Lawrence education is rooted in a constantly renewed and up-to-date curriculum, compelling research opportunities, and multidisciplinary collaborations. Without the financial support we receive from you, none of this would be possible. Thank you! We'd like to invite you to make your annual donation today, to support our 2016 campaign right from the start.

Mail your contribution to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence, 1 Mead Way/Bronxville, NY 10708; call us at 914-813-9220 or donate online at http://www.slc.edu/give . The FSL team is grateful for your investment in Sarah Lawrence.

The Sarahs fosters a revolution in audio fiction; podcast featured in iTunes

A revolution in creative audio content has been fueled with the launch of The Sarahs—the Sarah Lawrence International Audio Fiction Awards, a competition designed to raise aural storytelling to new heights of creativity and popularity.

"It's time for audio fiction to have its own red carpet," says founder and faculty member Ann Heppermann. " The Sarahs—like the Oscars, the Tonys, and the Emmys—will reward excellence in the field of radio drama made for the 21st century.".

The Sarahs kicks off with a contest to inspire writers, artists, producers, and others to create audio fiction works of their own. The "Very, Very, Short, Short Story Contest" asks people to make short 2-3 minute pieces based on one-sentence prompts provided by Sarah Lawrence College writing faculty members. Information about this initial contest, is on the web site.
