Save the Date for Reunion 2014 and Consider Becoming a Volunteer!

Mark Your Calendar! Reunion 2014: Thursday, June 5th - Sunday, June 8th

  • Don't miss the opportunity to return to SLC's beautiful campus and reconnect with friends.
  • Reunion weekend will offer Seminars, Local Tours, Dance Parties, The Alumni Art Exhibit and Cabaret, Midnight Breakfast, and much more.
  • In the meantime, stay in touch with the alumni community and find your class Facebook group at http://alum.slc.edu/

HELP MAKE THE WEEKEND A SUCCESS,
BE A REUNION VOLUNTEER!

Volunteering is a fantastic way to connect with fellow classmates and assist in planning the weekend. Your creativity, feedback, and support are essential to making the weekend a success. If you are interested in becoming a Reunion volunteer, sign up here or contact Dania Abu-Shaheen, Associate Director of Alumni Relations, at 914-395-2531 or dshaheen@sarahlawrence.edu.

As a Reunion volunteer, your responsibilities could include:

  • Attending Reunion Weekend -- who would want to miss all the fun after all the work?!
  • Participating actively in regular reunion planning correspondence either in person, via conference call, or by email. We plan to have the Reunion program finalized by early December, so volunteers must be available to join these meetings in the fall to contribute programming suggestions.
  • Planning an activity/event for your class as part of the Reunion program.
  • Joining fellow volunteers for a Reunion overview gathering on campus in late September.
  • Being a part of a network of fundraising volunteers to encourage contributions to your class gift.
  • Contacting classmates to encourage them to attend Reunion. The Office of Alumni Relations will facilitate getting in touch with your classmates by providing contact lists and class Facebook groups. Your efforts to encourage attendance are invaluable – they can truly transform Reunion weekend from good to GREAT.

We look forward to seeing you in June 2014!

TEDxSLC Videos Now on Youtube!

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

Under the direction of Jerri Dodds, Dean of the College, two Class of '12 alumni--Rob Winslow and Sean McIntyre--took on the hefty task of producing SLC's TEDx videos. Rob and Sean initiated the dialogue with TED, developed the parameters for SLC's effort, helped solicit and identify the presenters, designed and helped construct the set, worked with Film Studies professor Damani Baker '96 who filmed the presentations, edited the raw footage, and then uploaded the final product to public channels. We're both proud of and grateful for their efforts on the College's behalf.

Sarah Lawrence College Campaign Update

We are pleased to announce that we received a total of $45,061,057 in campaign commitments at the end of the 2012-2013 fiscal year. New funds include The Carol Graham Stewart Memorial Scholarship Fund, established by Alison Stewart and Lisa Stewart Crisp in honor of their mother Carol Graham Stewart '51. ECP Family International Dance Fund, recently established in honor of Edith Cowles Poor, underwrites costs associated with visiting dance artists to the College to teach Master Classes in both traditional and modern dance forms. Visiting artists must come from non-western traditions in their dance art and practice.

We are excited about these new programs and grateful to our donors. Their understanding of Sarah Lawrence's mission created these gifts, and the resulting endowed funds will benefit Sarah Lawrence College in perpetuity.
