Retiring faculty members
Sarah Lawrence Celebrates Retiring Faculty

With much appreciation, the College celebrates seven esteemed faculty members who have retired this year. Persis Charles (history), Tishan Hsu (visual and studio arts), Kate Johnson '79, MFA '81 (writing), Ann Lauinger (literature), Cassandra Medley (theatre), Sara Rudner (dance), and Sungrai Sohn MFA '78 (music) have all left a meaningful and lasting impression on the College, their colleagues, and most especially the many students they guided throughout their decades of dedicated service to SLC.

Reunion 2020
Reunion 2020: Save the Date and Volunteer

Save the date for Reunion 2020: Thursday, June 4 through Sunday, June 7. If you are celebrating a milestone reunion (undergraduate class years ending in 5 or 0), help us make Reunion 2020 great by becoming a Reunion volunteer! Reunion volunteers are the most important component of the Reunion planning process. Alumni volunteers have the best insight into the kind of celebration their classmates enjoy and that can make a real difference in the quality of the experience. Learn more and volunteer to make Reunion 2020 a great occasion for all.

Cynthia Hamilton Augustine ’79
Sarah Lawrence Magazine: Change Agent

From the moment her eyes were opened wide in a constitutional law course at Sarah Lawrence with John “Jack” Nields (legal studies), Cynthia Hamilton Augustine ’79 had envisioned a long and enriching career practicing law. She was well into her career as a corporate attorney when she had the unnerving realization that her zeal for the legal profession was faltering. Read more about Augustine’s journey and other stories in Sarah Lawrence magazine online.

Last Word: Since we graduated so many decades ago, I've lived and worked in China, raised two wonderful children, and supported Asian studies research at Stanford and Harvard. Then my SLC artistic ideals kicked in: Chase your dream; be creative; never say, "I can't."
