"Longing for the Meaning of Life" with Roland Dollinger (German, Literature). Hosted by Kermit Perlmutter '91 in North Berkeley. Have you ever asked yourself what the meaning and purpose of your life might be? Then you are in the company of some of the most interesting modern philosophers, writers, and psychotherapists such as Heidegger, Hesse or C.G. Jung who all began their intellectual careers in the shadow of Nietzsche's famous dictum that "God is dead" and sought different ways to overcome such nihilism. Professor Dollinger will introduce his recently published book "Sehnsucht nach Sinn" [Longing for the Meaning of Life] in which he analyzes the works of nine different modern authors who were all intrigued by the question of what the meaning of life in modernity might be.
