Join Joel Sternfeld, Visual and Studio Arts faculty, for an exclusive guided tour of the American Prospects exhibit at the Bruce Museum. This captivating collection features over forty large-scale color prints, including many iconic images from the series, as well as several never-before-exhibited works. First published to widespread acclaim in 1987, Joel Sternfeld's American Prospects is regarded as one of the important early monuments of color photography. Inspired by photographers like Walker Evans and Robert Frank, Sternfeld embarked on an ambitious cross-country journey from 1978 to 1983, supported by a Guggenheim Fellowship, to capture the essence of America. The result is a body of work that continues to resonate, presenting a layered and evocative view of the nation.
